Brilliant Stroke
Ishaan has a problem - letters and numbers dance in front of his eyes. Result? He can't figure out whether they're dancing up, or down. Leftways, or on the right side. In short, they're dancing all the time, and so fast that he can't read them. Add to that his other problems, and oh yeah, the fact that's he's EIGHT, and you've got BIG ISSUES!That's... more...

Kyun ya?!
I love Bollywood. Love its dances, its music, its sometimes inane scripts and the beauty and glamour associated with it. Maybe that explains why I like most Bollywood films I watch ~ because I find something interesting, something beautiful in every film. But Saawariya was ummm...pushing it a bit too much. I shouldn't have bothered. Not gonna get i... more...

Mast, but not Paisa Vasool
The ideal way for me to begin a Diwali is by watching a Shah Rukh Khan flick first thing in the morning. As luck would have it, we managed to get tickets earlier this week and just got home from the First Day First Show of Om Shanti Om. The questions on your mind are probably……is it good? And was it worth all the hype? The answer to the first is YE... more...

MAJA HI MAJA - MY REVIEW ON 'JAB WE MET...
See now these are the kinda films I miss. Good clean entertainment, whole lot of candyfloss and so much humour that my eyes were watering and my tummy hurt. OK OK I know that’s no way to start a review. But Jab We Met evoked a whole lot of ‘excitablility’ a la Kareena when I watched it (about 2 hours ago) and this review is going to be a whole lot ... more...

WAITING TO LIVE IN A WORLD WITHOUT CORRU...
I trudged the road to Bandra post office this morning to pick up my passport, which I’d given for renewal a few weeks ago. I’d missed the registered post that was sent to my home last week, and now I had to go pick it up from the local post office. “In & out! I’ll be outta there in 5 minutes,” I promised myself this morning as I realized I would ge... more...

Kabir Khan Rocks!
Yup. Not Shah Rukh Khan, but it"s Kabir Khan, coach of the Indian national women"s hockey team, who takes the cake and stays in your mind as you walk out smiling from the auditorium after watching Chak De! India. Lemme start at the beginning. Yash Raj has not done too well in 2007. And when I first saw the 8-minute promo of Chak De! India (Hockey d... more...

Harry Potter, the Deathly Hallows and ME
I just finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows a couple of days ago. And I guess it was a good read, ‘cos flashes from the book are still lingering in my mind. Nevertheless, I still wanted to put down the experience in words. Which is what this is – a recount of my experience, and not a review. No real spoilers ahead, so you can read this eve... more...

ANGEL AND A HALF I tell you...
I used to be a bookworm as a child. I never went down to play after school, and wasn’t much of a social animal either. I was the kinda geek who came home after school, put my bag down, opened my schoolbooks and finished my homework before changing out of my school uniform (I’m serious. This is no exaggeration!). All this, so I could then relax with... more...

Fine Dining and Wildlife together...here...
Went for a nice quiet dinner at a fine dining restaurant in Bandra (in the heart of Mumbai, in case you didn't know) and by the time we came outside, it was raining cats and dogs. Which is great otherwise, except that there was a huge traffic jam outside, and there weren't enough valets around to get our car. It's then that we noticed the cause of ... more...

Glad I Jhoomed!
Was sitting with my team at work on Friday evening and we were discussing everyone's weekend plans, when I announced I was going for Jhoom Barabar Jhoom that night. "DON'T!" said one of my team members before I'd finished saying the name of the film. I just smiled and told him, "Dude! You forget. I watch ALL Hindi films. I'm not missing out on a Ya... more...

Urban Flight ( Very Short Fiction )
The valley stretched across his entire field of view. From the outermost peripheral vision afforded by his left retina to the edges of his right eye. And it swept out in front and away from him to the edge of the Earth. He could not see a horizon. It seemed endless. Endless, and magical. A golden halo seemed to emanate from somewhere within the fol...  more...

Love Strings--'The Untouchable Love'
This article is the first of my series ' Love Strings '. Perhaps it may be described as my first brush with the feeling of Love. These events unfolded when I once went to my grandpa's native village in my summer vacations during my school days.Within the premises of my grandpa's house at the village, there was a 'Well' which in a long radius was th...  more...

Smile
One of the comman sites in Delhi is a small child on a crossing asking for a rupee or two, it really touches me and i wonder what could be the possible solution to this long lasting social problem in India. But i have never been able to think of a solution for this. Although i strongly feel that we should not promote this and fight out this evil, b...  more...

The Real Shopping-Cart Revolution
Five hundred years of progress packed into a sack of flour.By J. Bradford DeLong, Wired MagHere's some food for thought.A smart shopper can buy a 5-pound bag of Gold Medal flour for 69 cents. That's enough to feed three people for a day - 7,500 easy-to-digest, relatively nutritious, and potentially tasty calories. All for less than 0.7 percent of a...  more...

BPOs take care of your career too
What happens when an Alok joins a BPO? He becomes Alex and acquires an accent, not so American, not Indian either. Then he changes the way he dresses, the way he carries himself and then the way he lives. Yes, Alex is really Alok, but it isn’t about personality change but rather about self empowerment and belief. The general perception of a phone r...  more...
